Engineering graphics is one of the first engineering disciplines studied by students of higher technical educational institutions, which consists of graphic geometry and technical drawing.

Figurative geometry is a section of geometry that studies ways of presenting spatial figures or originals using their images (graphic models) on a plane or surface. The subject of descriptive geometry is the development of methods of construction and reading of drawings, methods of solving geometric problems with the help of drawings, methods of geometric modeling, i.e. creation of projections of an object that would meet predetermined geometric and other requirements, as well as construction of images of objects and objects entities of some specific field of engineering activity. To solve engineering problems using geometric modeling methods in various fields of science and technology, the methods of sketch geometry should be supplemented with the methods of computational geometry, which are the basis of computer graphics.

The study of engineering graphics consists in mastering the rules of execution and design of drawings in accordance with the rules of orthogonal projection and current standards of the unified design documentation system.
